I'm a self confessed petrolhead and have had my share of quick metal over the years, anyone else on here love their cars and if so what's your favourite you've owned? Obviously that leads me nicely on to mentioning Clarkson, Hammond and May on their new show which I've watched and personally loved, any opinions on it out there?

I too am a bit of a petrol head, loved the new show, just watched it. Mrs Bigjas fell asleep half way through but I really enjoyed it. Will be interesting to see how it evolves over the next few weeks.

As for cars, I currently have a Westfield Seight, which is like a Caterham 7 but cheaper and mine has a 3.5 litre V8 in it :thumb:

Before that, I had a Ford GT40 replica, I loved that car and miss it dearly. I also like bikes and had a few over the years, currently got a Suzuki Hayabusa and it's the best bike I've ever owned.

I also used to passenger a Formula 1 sidecar, until a nasty accident at Brands Hatch ended that career.

So yes, I do love petrol :thumb:

Love the grand tour.

It's top gear with a bigger budget, and no one to answer to.

If I was Matt Le-Blanc I would be [emoji90]ing it.

I run a Ford Owners Club (FordFanaticsUk) and attend shows throughout the spring and summer seasons. I've currently got a Mk7 Fiesta ST. Had a Mountune MR200 Mk6 Fiesta ST previously which I regret selling :(

I haven't read all of the above posts as I haven't watched TGT yet and don't want any spoilers ;)

I love my motors almost as much as beer. I have a focus st170 as my everyday car, had it for about 10 years now been a cracking motor. . And last year I bought a haynes roadster it's like a Caterham bigjas will know what it is, great fun to drive but I have to admit it scares me a bit.

I haven't got Amazon Prime, so haven;t seen it yet but have heard great things.

I love cars/bikes - mainly Harley Sportsters and modern Lotus cars. Spent 6 years tinkering with a 97 Elise a few years back, stripped and rebuilt all of the suspension arms and components - still used it during this time as a daily driver and track days too.

Had too many kids, so ended up with a Zafira (awful), and now a Nissan note(pretty good actually) - so I have retired my garage to just lift weights and make wine now..

Wow - there are a load of proper petrolheads on here, that Cobra is truly stunning, loving the Fords and a Westfield with a V8 in it???? How in Gods name do you keep that out of a hedge?? So I've had a few, my favourite was my Supra which was running about 600bhp+ with various changes to turbo configs in it's time (never big single though, bloody awful to live with turbo lag on that scale). Here she was before I sold her:

My current car was a mission to find, I wanted something that would return decent MPG but get to 60 in less than 5 secs and had 4WD, very tall order that. I also was going from a Mercedes CLK 500 which was just a brute with a NA 5l engine that just kept going but blooming hell the MPG was awful. So after a year of looking last December I took delivery of:

BMW 335 Msport Xdrive, 8 forward gears and more torque than the M3, finds its way to 60 in about 4.8 and easily does 42mpg with a heavy foot (I travel 120+ miles a day), nearer upper 40's in eco mode (not that I ever use that)

I am on the lookout for a modern classic to play with, something like a Mk2 Golf GTI 16v, Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI or even maybe a Skyline R34, I want to get out on a track and start some apex clipping at the weekends. I am glued to ebay on a daily basis to see what is out there and working out where I can hide it from SWMBO

Keep them coming, there must be some more Petrolheads out there that enjoy brewing :thumb:

Looking at some of these other cars I'm clearly playing at it

That said I've got too many hobbies to try and fund!

Yep, in my younger days I had a few tasty motors, my two favourites being a two door BMW 325i (E30) which I got when I was 24 this was a bit of a handful when wet and the obligatory Subaru Impreza Turbo, the last of the original shape (Year 2000 registered). The Impreza has a full stainless exhaust system removing all the catalytic converters (naughty), sounded awesome in tunnels.

Now I've got kids I've had to get something more sensible so currently floating around in a BMW 535D Tourer/Estate (E61). Quite an amazing car really, perhaps not quite as fast as the Impreza 0-60 but I think it would edge it 60-100 as the torque is insane. Probably going to sell it soon though. Plan is to get a simpler / cheaper to fix workhorse estate car that the wife can use and a caravan (sorry!) for our holidays for the next few years. I'll use her Mitsubishi Colt for work :( Long term plan (wife doesn't know yet) is to get something like a BMW M135i or a Golf R for me once she's back at work and bringing some money in.

I had a play in a M135 and it is quite a car, so is the Golf R :thumb: If you are going to hot hatch route take a look at the Merc A45 AMG but you will need a budget and a half for that (but is stupidly fast in factory spec).

Caravan..... we will say no more :lol::lol:

Top gear was the best show ever, Clarkson is a missunderstood pure genius that most people can only aspire to.

The GT is another level, just the opening sequence is utterly breath taking and Oh those Cars. The Cinematography is mind blowing.

Looking forward to seeing the other two knocking Jezza's house down.

Just sign up for prime, its worth it just for the GT

Prime is only £7.99 a month if you dig around on Amazon and can cancel at anytime like Netflix, I got rid of Netflix and replaced it with Amazon Prime, still get vids etc

Isn't amazon prime on sale at the moment - 20 quid cheaper then usual - well worth it

Daily driver Focus ST170 had from new in 2003, now done 135000 miles and love it. Also have Caterham 7 that I built in 2008, currently SORN since heart surgery and I couldn't get in and out of it. Ready for getting on the road in spring. Also 2000 clasic Mini in garage, my retirement project. Notable cars owned in past: TR5 bought for £800 and sold for £1050 1 hour later after driving it 6 miles home. 2 Dolomite sprints, MG midget with full race 1340cc engine, gave loads of people a shock. RS 2000 mk 2, immaculate and stolen off drive. MG Montego Turbo, very fast and comfortable GT saloon. When I think of the other cars that were available to me, in my youth, for very little money I cry...
Petro head? Maybe.

I enjoyed the first episode of the GT. I always did like seeing the celebrities on the track though. I hope they resurrect that.

Also a fan of all things petrol powered although my current love is probably the slowest I've ever had...

 That is a true work of art, sod how fast or slow something is when they look like that. Did you do the work yourself or did you buy like that?

Love beer, cider and petrol. I have a couple if M Power BMWs from the 80s and 90s. A pic here:

I also drive a Celica GT4 WRC every day.

Loving the Grand Tour so far. The combination of presenters works really well and I'm glad they haven't messed with that - its just more of what we all know and love with a much better budget and cinematography.
