Solway CAMRA has announced that the 28th Carlisle Beer Festival will be held on Thursday 1st November 2018 through to Saturday 3rd November 2018. Starting at 1700 on Thursday then every day from 1200 – 2300. The venue, once again, is The Venue on Portland Place.
The Beer list is yet to be finalised but will include beers from Cumbrian Breweries such as Carlisle Brewery and Hesket Newmarket whose Blencathra Double IPA checks in at 7.4%. I contrast Northern Alchemy (Newcastle upon Tyne) are offering their Table Beer at 2.6%. Also featured will be 2 new brews from Great Corby Brewery; Oktohop Black IPA and Signal Peak APA. Local Ciders will also be on offer such as Ennerdale Brewery’s Strawberry Cider and from further afield will be the linguistically challenging Pheasant Plucker (Broad Oak, Bristol).
There will be presentations to the brewers of the Solway Beer of the Year, the Beer of the Festival (chosen by those attending the festival) and last but by no means least, The Solway City Pub of the Year.
The festival will feature, for the first time, a Key Keg bar, where the range of beers will include a beer from the To Ol brewery in Copenhagen (Garden of Eden). Key Keg is essentially “real ale in a bag” which allows small quantities of unusual beers to be served at peak freshness.
Very special brews such as Citra & Mosaic Milkshake IPA from Tiny Rebel in Newport, Wales described as “Two of the world’s favourite hops. Citrussy and Tropical – a match made in heaven. Teaming up as an unstoppable force. A legendary pairing. Milkshaked. The result is a delectable combination of citrus and tropical fruit flavours, sweet creamy texture and unbelievable refreshment.” Ensure that there’s something for everyone. Come and discover an exciting world of beer for yourself.
