I have 2 corny kegs, at the minute 1 has ginger beer in which i part carbonated with sugar and left a couple of weeks before puttinin the keg.

My first larger i left too long to secondry carbonate so this went in the keg and I tried and failed to force carbonate it. I have finished this now and have just put in my keg a mexican beer but again this is flat I have a big C02 bottle and get 45 psi on the gauge when i gas the keg up, give it a shake but its still flat. They are in my utility room and temp is out side temp so about 9-10 degs when I am gasing and filling.

Any advice I just finished 40 pints of flat beer/larger tops dont fancy another 40 :wha:

I have put another brew on to go in the next empty keg, should I secondry ferment in my pressure barrel then transfer to the corny when its empty?

Help I want a fizzy beer

put the beer in a corny straight from the fv use the out post on the corny to transfer the beer. Then gas up to 15psi leave warm somewhere for a week so carbonation can take place then put in a geggerator and keep cool shouldnt have any problems

how do i use the out post to transfer from my FV? do I need a clip and a syphon tube anything else?

Ta

I don't use the outpost, I find it is too slow for me.

I transfer the brew to the corny straight out of a tap on my fermenter into the corny through some of Vossy's excellent silicon hose. Before filling the corny I will have flushed it through so it will be full of CO2 before I start filling.

Once I have filled the corny I then gas to about 40psi, then shake it around, gas it again, and shake it more. Do this for as long as you want.

The colder the beer whilst trying to carbonate it the easier the CO2 will be absorbed into the beer. If you don't want to shake it around just leave it connected to the gas at 40psi for about 48 hours somewhere cold, preferably in a fridge..

After it is carbonated, reduce the pressure down to about 10psi for serving.

How long are you talking about between pressurising the keg and drinking the beer?

as long as it takes to fill the glass

our fv does not have a tap and even if it did i wouldnt do it as most of the crud settles at the bottom. to transfer using the outpost attach a legnth of beer line to the black discoonect start the flow using syphon tube and just leave the keg to fill. You dont even have to take the lid off the corny just unlock the prv.
