Can you move a fermentation vessel after pitching the yeast?

Hey, new to both the forum and brewing. Was just wondering if you can move a fermentation vessel a week after pitching the yeast? I would like to start my brew tomorrow but have to move it next week by car, a distance of about 10 miles, so not very far, but worried that it could ruin the brew in some way. For various reasons I can't just do it where I am going in a week, otherwise I would just wait. Will moving it be a problem?

I would be most concerned about it tipping over or the lid coming off in the car!

Good point J. Tape the lid and put in passenger footwell with some padding round it.

Oh, and take the airlock out, otherwise it will 'suck' some of the airlock liquid in going over bumps, being carried, etc. Bung some cotton wool in the hole if you are worried, or temporarily tape over it.

Oh, and take the airlock out, otherwise it will 'suck' some of the airlock liquid in going over bumps, being carried, etc. Bung some cotton wool in the hole if you are worried, or temporarily tape over it.

The risk is not disturbing the yeast, which might actually help, but introducing oxygen. I would give it a gentle shake the day before you move to make sure there isn't a load of CO2 building up pressure then, when it comes to moving, make sure everything is taped up and the air lock hope covered.

depends how heavy it is innit?
seriously though i made the poor decision of trying to shift a v full 14gal cronical fermenter id just put 600g of hop pellets into during active fermentation and ended up with a charming 10 foot green geyser of beer all over the roof and walls and myself.

at a week it should be fine, possibly even beneficial if it rouses some sleepy yeasts. only thing to keep a mind of is there will be a lot of fluctuating pressure happening during the move so you want to remove airlock and tape the hole shut to minimise sucking stuff in and out.

Speaking of babies: I think using a baby car seat for that very fat baby is the most prudent method.
