Don't start....please I was there. I was in amongst 96 dead people. Unless you have any knowledge of what that entails, please keep your remarks guesses and things you have read about to yourself.

an apology for my previous post....

The subject is still very raw after all these years. I am tired of listening and hearing peoples assumptions and guesses that had no part in it.

Very disappointed by the topic title really if I'm honest, I haven't even clicked on the link and am not likely to now based on the responses above.
I have no connection or friends in the police but am a firm believer in the principal of policing and the integrity of those who carry out this duty for all of us....would it be a better country without policing.....I think not.
I view the use of this subject to prove a point as highly inflammatory and will have no hesitation in locking this topic should it be used a leverage to make a general point about the police.

A guy who trained me when I was an apprentice was there, he was a big Liverpool fan and lived in Chapeltown not far away, so he went. He once started telling me about it over a pint, he stopped mid-sentence, went quiet for 30 seconds or so and then said he was off out for some fresh air. Came back and totally changed the subject, so I never asked about it. Such a strong emotional reaction from a lad who was very much a tough guy said all I needed to know...

RIP.

My mate was the same, big guy who couldn't talk...

Sad day, don't know who was to blame but it happened and lessons should be learned from it..
I feel for the sad losses to families..

To be honest it sometimes crosses my mind when I'm in the south stand at Headingley and gives me a shiver. It's hard to believe so many people were lost from something seemingly as simple as a few too many fans squeezing in.

vossy, they lied and made out that it was the fans fault. i had friends that went there and came back different people

the majority of the police are obviously good people doing a good job but some of them are power crazed lying gits who where obviously bullied at school

Hi Guys,
I'm not normally the type of person to be contentious on any type of Forum but out of respect for those Families and Friends of the deceased should we close this topic?
:hmm:

apologies to those who may feel offended by my post.

The thread title is a sweeping generalisation regarding the 'police' as an entity.
You have just said yourself that individually they are on the whole OK so what is your position?
