Hi Guy's, I'm New To The Forum :drunk:

I brewed a batch of beer last year, it was a coopers brew kit I used, I kegged it up and stored it in my workshop / shed for about 8 months. I've recently started to get back into brewing, I'm a novice :nah: , so I bought myself 120 bottles, caps, brewing sugar, and some more kits, I have 80 Pints fermenting away, along with some red wine, and some whiskey kits.

Anyway, my kegged beer from last year is still in the workshop, and i wanted to carbonate the beer so i can drink it. I've managed to bottle it and use some coopers carbonation tablets, in the hope this will carbonate it so its drinkable. I don't have a c02 system yet. I also used some brewers sugar in some of the bottles, to see which works best between the two.

If neither of these work, and if i end up with flat beer, can this beer be saved by say using c02? Also, how long should i wait before opening these bottles? I've read 2 weeks, and read that i should use 1 teaspoon per 500ml bottle, or one Carbonation tablet per 500ml bottle. I followed these guides when I bottled, I saw some activity when i used the sugar, but that activity was short lived (5 Mins).

I still have plenty of beer left, in case it can be saved, or if anyone else has any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice, and look forward to reading the forum. :hat:

Hi, the yeast has used up the sugar you put in and has converted it to co2. As it's in a sealed bottle it should be at least a bit fizzy when opened.( and two weeks sounds about right). Some where on here there is a link to a guy that uses an old crown cap with a car valve in it to carbonate bottles, bit not sure if it's a good idea or not  Anyway what's wrong with flat beer! ( ducking the incoming flack)
