Hello,
We have a party in two weeks and I have brewed ales, stout, cider, white wine, red wine. Its all a couple of months old and so I thought ok.
Tonight I decided as a precaution to test each to make sure on the night I was not serving vinegar.
Ok stout was lovely Harvest bitter lovely cider lovely red wine hmmm ok white wine lovely and yep I can still type he he

Only failure or teaser is my Pale ale the 4%. Bitter that I was thinking ok for the pretty drinkers ha ha . Well turned the tap and nothing aaaaah. Its in a king keg top feeder. Though I had lost my secondary fermentation gas through the lid and yes it was tight but not super tight as I would normally do. But not a whisp.

Any thoughts? Should i gas it up and check for leaks? Re sugar it and try again? Or just throw it away andop to Tesco for a drinking ale? Or just have all the chaps drink the stronger beer and make it a frisky party ha ha .

Cheers, Col.

I think you are saying that your keg isn't dispensing the beer. I wouldn't tip it down the drain! I suggest you repost with King Keg in the title and someone with experience of them may respond.

Sounds like no pressure in the keg to me, from what I get from your post you have established that by removing the lid already.

Assuming you have experience of king kegs I would just either prime again and seal or re gas and seal properly. Maybe replace the o ring in the lid while you are at it and the gas valve rubbers as they give up over time.

Of you are not used to King Kegs then a whole new chapter on King Kegs is required as can be a bit awkward to get to work to start off with.

I had this problem with a keg of Wherry a few weeks back, I had to have it ready for a party and there was no pressure in the barrel with just 10 days to go. Usual problem with overtightening distorting the O ring. I re-primed and bottled it, and then hoped for the best. It improved massively over the next 10 days - the guests at the party certainly seemed to be enjoying it, anyway!

i have a king keg its great but i did have a few leaks one i made myself ...

i would re gas and see if its the lid or the valve leaking when you see which it is replace eather the o ring or the valve seal...then re gas again ...

i had this before it was my valve seal and my o ring ...
i done the lid up to tight and distorted my o ring it doesnt need to be very tight just hand tight then half a turn is plenty or you can bugger up the o ring ...

i gased up then tipped water around my co2 valve and yes it was leaking ...
i took the lid complete with the valve intact to my local brew shop ...

the guy there changed it for me so i didnt do it up to much plus changed the o ring and said only ever hand tight and half a turn ..
you can buy a spanner for these tops but there only for undoing them ...
as after the beers gone some times there hard to unscrew...

also look at the tap its self...
that could be leaking if so replace that seal...

i always us a little vaseline on the seals ...
not much just enough to get a shine on it ...

works for me ...

i hope this helps ...

regards mick...
