would it be alright to carbonate coopers Irish stout, it finished fermenting a while ago, but it doesn't seem to have much life to it, i made it with 1kg dark spray malt and a tin of Lyle's black treacle, and i know it,s not supposed to be fizzy, but i wouldnt mind adding a little valve of gas to give it a bit of life. would this be alright.
any advice always appreciated, andy.

Where is it at the moment, is it in a keg?, if so did you prime it when you put it in the keg?

If you didn't, I would be inclined to prime with about 85g of sugar, leave it for a week in the warm, then cool it down a bit and start drinking.

If you did prime and it's flat that suggests your keg is not holding pressure, so you need to find out where the gas is escaping, fix it and reprime.
