Refering to turbo cider.

I order my shopping online and they will only deliver 12x1ltr bottles of apple juice at a time, my question is am i okay to brew 13 ltrs of apple juice in a 25 ltr fv.
What i am asking is coz there is a large gap of air will it be okay and not go rotten or similar.

also i do have 6 ltrs of blackcurrant cordial but i does say it as preservatives.
Could i add this to my apple juice and dilute up to 25 ltrs with water.
Would it need boiling and would it need diluting or just leave it @ a 13 and 6ltr mix?
and also i don't mine the taste of either so a mix maybe okay.
:hmm:

all that space could lead to it going bad like u say, how about geting more juice in the week and toping it up?

I did not really wont to spend to much on this hobby just yet and it seems i have spent over a £100 so far :hmm:

i do have 3 x 5ltr plastic water bottles i will have to use i was just wondering if there was a way round not using them and also using up my blackcurrant cordial taboot.

Looks like i will have to use the tried and tested method supplied on here by marssy....

is there a way i can use blackcurrant cordial that as preservatives in it?

You can use the cordial if you put it in a pot and simmer for about 20 mins to kill off the preservatives :)

Do i use it as a full cordial or diluted.
I am wondering if i can use it to do the same brew as marssy's turbo cider and follow the instructions substituting the apple juice for blackcurrant.
I am thinking it must have to be diluted to some degree.
Sorry if i am coming across as thick ......but i am :thumb:

I'm confused now!! Do you have cordial, or ready to drink cartons of juice? If it's cordial, you can follow posts such as Marrsy's Recipe's ribena wine to make a nice blackcurrant wine, you would use undiluted cordial which has been simmered for making it. If you are planning a turbo cider or a wow type wine, the cartons of ready to drink juice are what you would use. I'm not altogether sure about substituting diluted cordial for apple juice in a TC to be honest, but I'm assuming you would need to use apple juice for it to be a TC surely? You could probably use the cordial for a raspberryade (thread on forum) type alcopop after simmering Moley would prob be the man to ask about the diluted stuff for TC!!

I have cordial.
i am taking a look now at marssy's ribena wine i will also have a good look round the forums and see how i go from there.
sorry for confusing you

 no worries, it's easily done lol!! I can highly recommend Marrsy's recipes, they're pretty much idiot proof and I have made a few of them now with great success  the strawberry ribena wine was a real winner...end result was :drunk:

They will only deliver 12 x cartons of EACH BRAND of juice ....you can get round this by spending a bit more and ordering 12 x of the own brand basic , 12 x of the own brand regular , 12 x of a brand name basic , and so on , if you follow .

A large amount of air space in a FV would not be too much of a problem if the brew started fast and furious and displaced the air with CO2 .It would mean you would have to be a bit careful about opening the airlock more than absolutely necessary but it is totally do able . Have done it / do it often myself as I have somehow ended up with a profusion of 20L FV buckets that contained sheep foot dip concentrate previously and no sealable 25's . Baaa !

+1. the protective cloud should stop any major problems due to oxygen as the co2 will push it all out, and a yeast starter is a good idea, yeah :)
what you will want to do is get it out of there and into a vessel with no/little headspace as soon as possible after fermentation though, so have that ready!

I have done the same (maybe a couple of litres more) and nothing bad happen. Once the fermentation has stoppe just rack it and bottle it straight away. If you don't le it hang around in there too much it will be fine!

Cheers for all the help/advice .
duly noted and i got and extra 2 ltrs of the neighbour so will do the 25 ltr fv.
thanks
