Hi I have a kit that i have tried everything but re-pitching yeast to get going again, i now need the FVs for another brew, this kit has been in the fvs for close to 4 weeks now. This is just a tom caxton kit (yorkshire bitter)- made with 1 kg beer kit enhancer, and brewed a bit short - SG 1050.

One simple question - is it ok to bottle at this gravity, as i can't be bothered waiting for it, or repitching yeast.
will it condition if the yeast is a bit dead, and if it does will i risk bottle bombs.

Thanks

1020 seems a bit high, 1012 -1015 is more normal and perhaps lower for a kit. If you were to bottle it then you run the risk of it restarting and you ending up with bottle bombs or at the very least bottle gushers. What have you tried to restart it?

Just stirring a few times and moving to a warmer place. Now that some S-04 has arrived in the post i think i'll just re-pitch, as i was hoping to bottle before i went away.

Mian reason being that this kit is holding up my first extract brew which is sitting around in its first FV, and i need the kit brew buckets to rack in to and dry hop.

Thanks

Why not go to wilkies and get another bucket ? It would be cheaper to buy a bucket than lose a brew.

SO4 is likely to stop at 1.016 or 1.014, so it worth pitching yeast for that?

Graysalchemy knows more than me, but I would say bottle it. Will you be using glass or PET bottles?

It may be worth adding less priming sugar than your normally would, but my amature opinion is that if it's not changed after 4 weeks, it isn't really gonna change any more.

Bottle it. I 've done so loads of times i always assumed that as i made the kits up slightly short that the FG would be slightly higher. Perhaps wrongly i don't actually know but i've never (touch wood) had any bomb yet.

Thanks guys have pitched a pack of S-04 2 days ago, but nothings happening, it is kept at a steady 16 degrees, the s-04 states it should work down to 15? Anyway going to warm it up a little more in front of the fire and leave it for another couple of days. If nothing happens then i'll just bottle it.

The only bottles i have got are Glass - but seem like fairly heavy duty ale bottles (which should hold the pressure, or make a more violent bomb!). Thanks
