Hi

I am new to brewing and only have my 1st batch of larger in a pressure keg waiting to be drank!

I am looking to move onto a pilsner next and wondered if anyone could recommend a good kit to use? One that is good for a beginner

Thanks

Better Brew make a Czech Pilsner that is quite well rated, maybe try that!
You may also find that bottling gives a better result as you can carbonate higher, resulting in a nice fizzy beer :)

Brewing slightly short (to 20L - 21L) and using brew enhancer instead of raw sugar will give you a better result whatever kit you use too. Don't be afraid to spend a few quid on a better kit or more ingredients, after all, it is for 40 pints

Good advice thanks

Would it make any difference using plastic or glass bottles?? Or just the same as long as they stay airtight?

Thanks

Either green or clear bottles should be kept in the dark, or at least out of direct sunlight

Lagers are better brewed at cool temperatures, do you have the facility to do this? If not, may be best to do some ales now, and leave the lagers until October.

There's no real difference (apart from aesthetics) between plastic and glass, I wouldn't store in plastic mega long term. Just remember that if you bottle in 2L bottles, you'll need to drink 2l at a time :p

hi

the coopers pills is going down very nicely right now in the garden
easy to make like all coopers kits are made mine with 1kg beer enhancer & 500g of light spray malt comes with an ale yeast so can be fermented at higher temp done mine at 20c

Yeah my larger is in a cool place...the downstairs loo lol

Gonna give an ale a try next after your advice and leave the pilsner till late autumn/winter
