Would I be.correct in thinking BOC supply CO2 Tanks suitable for Corny Kegs?....has Anyone dealt with BOC and maybe shed some light.
For example what sizes do the Tanks come in and which is the best size to use?
How long in average if say drinking 10/20 pints eack weekend would a tank last?
Do u know initial cost of each size of Tank and how much refills + delivery costs are approx?

I get mine from the local Calor supplier, they don’t guarantee food grade although it always is. My supplier is in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Large tank is about £22 with tank deposit about £30, has been online for nearly a year.

I paid £40 deposit & £9.95 for a 6.5kg CO2 bottle in God's country (Sunderland).

I would shop around. I was looking for Co2 in the summer and was looking at about £80 to get going with one until Hoddy put me on to a local supplier. In the end I got two 6KG cylinders for £24 delivered!! I reckon these two will last me a long time....

Where are you located, someone on here might know a good place to get it cheap.

I use BOC. You have to sign up for an account over the phone before you can get the gas from the shop. It's cheap enough, £20 for a decent size cylinder.. but you have to rent to cylinder from them for about £3 a month too.

My only gripe is that the cylinder (their smallest) is a little too big and will only fit in my fridge if I have one corny in there. So if I want both taps serving beer, I have to keep the c02 out of the fridge.

I got oxygen from them too, which was real cheap. £2 a month for the cylinder and £12 to fill it. I will be using it to oxygenate the wort, see if it makes any difference.

Adams gas have dealers all over, rent free, can get 1.5, 3 or 6kg cylinders.
They can also deliver/pick up if you're nowhere near a source but that basically triples the price

I get the 3 so it fits in my fridge but the 6 is much better value. 3kg is like 17 quid and it will carb dispense 6-8 kegs

I got this reply from my local Hobbyweld supplier

Thanks for your email. We have 1 cylinder of the food grade co2 in stock. Cost is £25.95 + vat for the refill and the refundable bottle deposit is £65.00

Likely to go this route as they are just round the corner from my work and from what I can gather a cylinder will last for ages.

hi,
i got a full size pub bottle off an ex flower grower[ha.].his bottle had gone.
went for a pint in witherspoons round the corner from Brentex Gas Ltd,
1-5 Morton St, Middleton, Manchester M24 6AN.whent in,the man said £10.00
for a refill.next day did not fancy going out,so mate with a taxi took it.yes it
was a tenner, the man said its an old bottle, but it,s still in test for a few year,s
you might try hydroponic shops, tropical fish shops.if you buy secondhand
there,s a chart online whitch will show how long the botttle is in test for.
mine is plastic green square on the collor.

Get friendly with your local pub or bar owner. No harm in asking.

Have a friend who has a cafe/bar with four keg lines, he adds a bottle to his order as and when I need one for around £6-8, no deposit.

so would you say those prices I have been quoted are good viable reasonable? or are they dear over the top? would u advise me to go ahead or not?

I got mine from my local pub, can't remember exact cost but something like £20-25 deposit + £10-15 + VAT for the gas. I called BOC in Crawley 1st and they wanted silly money and basically said unless I want regular refills it will be over priced.

excuse my ignorance how big is a 10l cylinder ? how many lbs approx. would that be? Would that fit inside an under the counter size fridge or would that sit outside? is it a problem for it to sit outside or is this better?

10l I think is the standard pub size 6.35Kg so would need to sit outside the fridge (its around the same height of an under counter one). There is no reason for it to have to be inside as long as you can run the gas lines to where you need.

hi dose anyone know an online place i could get a tank from iv been looking online but i dont know what im looking at thanks

It does all seem to be about how lucky you are to have a decent distributor around you to how much you pay. I like the idea of O2 from BOC gasses though as i have an idea for a few experiments that need O2.
