Hi All,

I wonder if someone in North London could tell me where they get their gas from for kegging? London Gases has quoted me £100 for 6.35kg and BOC £40 (but I have to pay a yearly membership of £40 on top).

Thanks in advance!

Might have to suck it up and drive all the way to Grays! Thanks for this, I'll keep an eye on the other thread too if anything closer comes up!

I literally just got back from Senator Welding Supplies in Greys. He does Adams Gas and is a nice guy. I'm based in E1 and having looked around, this is my main supplier with RSR Gases in Uxbridge as a second choice (another nice guy but it's just his house).

Brilliant. How much did you pay?

I use the 3.15kg bottles, for which it's a £55 deposit and then I think just under £20 inc. VAT for a refill. Today I was dropping off only so it's not so fresh in the memory! Bigger bottle bigger deposit but check the Adams Gas website and it should be the same as on there.

Last question I promise! How long does the 3.15 last you? Also is the deposit returnable? London gases said theirs wasn't!

Yes the deposit is returnable. It sounds like London Gases have a strange idea of what a deposit is!

How long it lasts is a difficult question because, obviously, it depends. I use a revolving lineup of 3-4 canisters for carbing, dispensing, purging kegs when kegging and occasionally shooting a crisp packet round the house. I think I usually get a couple of months minimum out of them, often much longer, depending on activity. Some people say they have had one that has lasted years but they must be either very careful or not brewing enough!! Clearly a bigger bottle would last longer and be more cost efficient, but I use these ones because they fit neatly inside the chest freezers that I use.

Awesome. I think ours would last longer then as we'd only have two kegs. I'm tempted to go for the 6.15kg. As we have a small fridge we're going to leave the canister outside and feed the pipe through the drip hole.
