Burton Ale has to be my favorite style, Its very hard to get a good example nowadays though, as for the Museum Bass no1 I will be looking out for it in the staff shop, I have not seen it anywhere yet.
Good examples are Owd Rodger from marstons, Old Tom from Robinsons in stockport is also in the burton style and a formidable ale.
I'm just sampling a JW Lees Moonraker, who's strength and colour are good but its too roasty and bitter for a burton IMHO.
Mr Prost did miss out the famous Ind Coope AAA (triple A) that was also a burton, and aledgely a verson of Alsopps Arctic Ale, which was I belive extremly formidable and a recipe I would love to get, they say it was like a food, and a Bottle of it sold on ebay a couple of years back for £250 grand I belive
He also missed out the old RAF saying "Gone for a Burton" used when a pilot went missing in action, rather than fear the worst his collegues would just say "*********'s has gone for a Burton" meaning the missing airman had popped down the pub for a pint of burtons finest. (*****= fit amy name you want Biggle's will do
).
I think it is a style that needs to come back to the fore but more true to its real style unlike the current crop of lacklustre IPA beers on the market.
