'ello.

I took a break from building the 10 gallon eHERMS setup I've been working on and decided to start work on a hard lemonade recipe for the summer months.
I plan to brew one 1.5 litre mini-batch a week, making adjustments to each batch, and hopefully ending up with a great recipe for a 5 gallon batch :D

Today's recipe was:

200ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
300g sugar
Zest of 3 lemons
Water to make up to 1.5l

Add all to pan and Boil for 5 mins
skimm off scumm
sive to remove zest
put in mini demijohn/growler
let it cool and add a pinch of yeast (in this case, just baker's yeast as it's all I had lying around - I plan use a heffeweizen yeast or similar)

Estimated OG: 1.063
Estimated FG: 1.016
Estimated ABV: 6.13%

Anyone tried making hard lemonade before?

Sorry to state the obvious, but the pics of it cooling not fermenting with an airtight seal?

Sounds an interesting brew, might try that this weekend. Will try it with Young's super yeast

I was just wondering what to do with the 1 gallon water bottle i bought yesterday.

Now i know

yep it's of it cooling : )
I've not got an airlock around so I'm not sure what I'll do about keeping it air-locked.... probably just cover the top in foil with a little string holding it on

Hi
You could try a sterilized party ballon with a pin hole in it over the top of the bottel for a fermentation lock.

on one of the videos i watched about the hard cider this guy used a blueberry flavoured condom as an airlock, he then said he could taste the blueberry flavour in the cider and it was nice.
