Ok, you lot have prompted me to put fresh batteries into a digital thermometer with an outdoor sensor, and now I'm wishing I hadn't, it's reading 2.8°C, Brrrrr.
Stephen Fry made a comment a few weeks ago on QI, which I hadn't considered or noticed before but which is absolutely correct. Us Brits still use Farenheit when it's hot but °C when it's cold. For example, a couple of weeks ago it was still ridiculously warm for the time of year with temperatures into the 90s, but now 2.8°C means far more to us than 37°F :wha:
Our central heating has been back on for the last couple of days but I'm going to have to move my working wines or get the water bath going again, room temperature in their area is currently down to 16°C.
