Brown DJ's

Mrs Tea has found some brown DJ's in a charity shop, she phoned and said they look the same size as the ones at home but wondered why they are brown, are these likely to be standard size DJ's made from brown glass? :wha:

last year on another topic someone posted that they go for £20 on ebay - 2 for £4 ..................a bargain :clap:

But only to phukwits with more money than sense.

£2 is about the going rate for second hand DJs from car boots or charity shops, irrespective of colour.

I no longer own any brown DJs, it's almost impossible to see where the sediment is when racking, I just wrap my red wines in clear DJs with brown paper or drape black bin liners over them.

I thought about that when she rang, as i make the same wine in 3 DJ's at a time i plan to use two clear and one brown then i will be able to judge where the sediment is and when they are clear.

I would have preferred clear ones but they rarely get any DJ's in so she grabbed them.

Put a torch behind it when racking and you will be be able to see where sediment is.

The juice wines i make don't have much sediment so if i am careful when i lower the syphon into the DJ the sediment rarely enters the trap.
