I went out to my brew shed tonight and managed to snap the key in the lock. I got the key bits out, but on further inspection I could see from looking through the key hole that the mechanism inside the lock housing had basically all fallen apart. Not a good thing to happen really.

Anyways, luckily for me the shed door has been put on with the hinges on the outside, so I was able to unscrew the door from the frame, remove the lock and re-build it to its former glory.

Job well done :-)

So the lock is just a token deterrent and presents no effective barrier to anyone of a light-fingered disposition who might happen to possess a screwdriver, Leatherman or Swiss army knife :wha:

Exactly. I only notice last night and we've been in the house a year now. Good job though I had all the required tools outside the shed to break in.

I have a cunning idea... :wha: ask the wife if she will stand guard by the shed over night till you can sort it...

I did that with my workshop apart from I had locked all keys inside and on a upvc door the key was inside, Had to drill through the solid panel door and make a hook to remove the key and scoop it out so I could get in again, all this using a torch and mirror to see what I was doing inside the door mission impossible style

ouch
