hi all,
well had ago we a lager for a change, or should I say a pilsner.
a Peroni type o thing.
No big probs, even one handed getting the fv into the chest ferm chamber.
3 days and no sign of nowt! heard WLP800 could be a PITA.
so I done a good old stir, raised temp....n this morning life!
back down to 12c...
the English IPA after 8 days still going lol. thinking of dry hop tomorrow.
strawbeer-vanilla milkshake IPA carbing up nice, lactose before bottling...must say that has to be the best tasting IPA ive had...even though the vanilla was dominant slightly.
but...…………...itching to get a brew on.lol
Later everybody,
Bri

morning all,
after 9.5hrs the last thing I thought boot was the thermal switch tbh!!!ha! ha! out of mind n all that..if you know what I mean lol
the cream ale went as smooth as...plenty of drainage and hit OG 1.050.
I'm still on the fence with stepped mash schedule mind..
pmfr09O.jpg

now this small batch!!! it really tested what brian cell I have left!!..
getting a low abv batch after the hrs spent tbh! FOR ME..not worth the effort and time..got eventually a low 3.9%...12l in the fv.
trial n error and I think at least ive tried it tbh.
so got 2 x small batches in the tall fringe, and a large (24l) batch in the chest freezer chamber..all bubblin away nicly.

A quick sample of the 1# fursty last nite..one hand pouring is a PITA..

all in all....still fired up, tried two yeast ive never used..
Empire ale yeast n Burton Union....looked at the burton...BEST BEFORE: 01/2017!!!!! but it going great...rung the bloke at the homebrew shop...and all I can say without swearin it got sorted..
hearing after so sorry a few times, "Ohh the Burton might be discontinued!!" bad skills tbh...
thx for viewing

How Do ,
I'm a big fan of blending different yeast strains for effects on fermentation and taste ! ,
Let us all know how it eventually turns out please ;
Cheers

How Do BRI ,
If you really want to have a good go at blending different yeast strains, the Boddingtons IP recipies I've popped up are good for the following blend :
Yorkshire Sq @ 50%
Burton Type @ 50%
@ Drop to 2nd f.v : Burton 25%
Yorkshire 50% Edinburgh 25%
And rouse every 8-10 hours until 1.005-6° above racking gravity , max temp 20.25°C ,
Cheers
Edd

Hello all,
Yesterday was supposed to be a easily day, clean the GF and get ready for a brewday TBC.
Well I decided whilst I was cleaning everything might as well a small batch!!
Started out chill as usual...no untoward probs til I got to the mash out...………...well lack of it!! :-(.
How many times have I brewed? even got the sparge water to temp! just lifted the basket and started sparging!!
Bloody idiot!!
And I forgot the pH check as well.

So with my brain not working thought id get the 'Fool guide' I made the other year.
15l to boil, 60,10,0 mins and a 80c coconut rest, also photofloc at 15.
Looking at est 5.6%.
Going to be only coconut dry hop.
Looking fwd to see the yeast results.
