Hi All.

First AG coming up. Bought the Brewstore continental lager recipe kit, I am a victim of lockdown and lack of ingredients available, but honestly I enjoy a lager so I did my reading to give me the best chance of it succeeding. I have a fermentation chamber setup to keep it cool as that seems to be key, I have a robobrew all cleaned and ready to go.

The last thing which I am trying to learn about is the yeast, now the recipe comes with the mangrove jacks bohemian M84, I also ordered a second pack. I asked brewstore what the grain bill and hops are but the don't seem to want to tell me.

Having watched some videos and using yeast calculators I am stuck. I want to trust the recipe and mangrove jacks and just use the one pack, but the calcuators suggest I will need more than 2 packs (If I use the recipes target volumes and OG etc).

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Assuming it's the 23L kit you've got I think you'd be best to follow the pitching calculator and use both packs. If you were planning on fermenting higher, say around 16C, you'd probably be OK with a single pack but at proper lager fermentation temps go with 2.

This was my gut feeling but having no experience I wasn't sure I had a gut feeling worth listening too
