Just a short post here, has anyone used one of these or know of any in depth reviews I can look at?

They’re obviously much cheaper than other options like the braumeister , but I’m wondering why there’s such a huge difference in the price. From what I can see there aren’t enough differences in the features to warrant this huge variance.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I think you should find plenty of reviews on the item as it is also sold as the Klarstein, Brew Devil,Ace Guten, Angel Brew and several others names. It is basically the same item rebranded

It is quite similar to other similar looking systems, like Robobrew, Klasrten, BrewDevil, Brewster Beacon etc.

I got myself Robobrew, as David Heath review it against grainfather and highly recommended it. Previously he reviewed Bulldog all in one system, very similar looking and there were problems with temperature - wasn't very accurate.

Main difference between Robobrew and BrewMonk

Robobrew has false bottom, instead of bazooka filter
The digital display has a bit different functions - Brew Monk you can adjust power of the element, in robobrew there are switches for 1900w and 500w
Temperature range it shows Brew Monk can go upto 100 degrees, robobrew can go higher

There are as well some visual differences, less important imho

Braumeister has a thicker gauge of stainless steel, the pump operation pushes water up through the grain, with regular pump breaks so the grain is changing position with each break. It, and all its parts are made in Germany, so obviously the labour cost is more.
I have had my Guten for 3 years and the BM for about 8 or 9 years, I have done a side by side test on them, same grain same water etc, both beers achieved the same OG. I use the Guten far more than the BM simply because it is lighter and easier to clean.

Videos that I have watched of Davids he still recommends the Grainfather, as long as they sort out the app, and as a grainfather owner I can only but agree with him on this. Thankfully I have an old i pad with the original app on it which works for me.

Thanks for all the responses so far, this gives me a good base to help make a decision.

Great to see there’s still a good level of activity on the forum after all these years.

If anyone else happens to have more to add to this, I look forward to reading your comments

I find David credible regardless of any supposed connection to a Norwegian homebrew supplier. I must have missed these videos where he bums up the Grainfather and derides competitors. Every video I've seen he has clearly given pros and cons of all systems.

I have to say that I find it interesting that you are critical of David given how critical you are of Kegland products. Any interests you wish to declare?

I have always found Davids videos of anything he reviews to be informative.I wouldnt say hes got any bias towards any developer, manufacturer or country of manufacture. As for chinese products, what do you think of SS brewtech products? which i have a few of,all made in china, with excellent quality. No matter what you buy, most is manufactured in China,Keg land products are made in China under the name Brewmaster, which David did a review on the Cannular canning machine, which is branded under the name of Keg Land

Foxy which all in one system would you go for if you were a first time buyer. A friend has a braumeister which is out my price range. I was looking at the brew devil or the robobrew

In the videos I have mention, there is just simple information you can go by. One of the products was showing not accurate temps, than in other he showed Robobrew to be more accurate, almost as accurate as grainfather - as I was looking at one of the products from this range of all in one.
Unless there is a suggestion, that those numbers are not truthful.

I like some of the products coming out of China, I have three SVB's from China, I think you will find Brewmaster is an American company. The reviews seem to focus on products sold by the company David works for, Cannular included.
If you go direct to the manufacture of the Cannular machine, its under Brewmaster,a chinese manufacture, its also under a Keg Land product, same machine,SS Brewtech is a US company, but its products are made in China. No matter if its American,British or any other country,China is dominant in manufacturing imports, you can slap any name on a product, but its still made in China.

I don't think you have the Brau Wolf in the UK so now KegLand have finally ironed out the ironed out the problems which have plagued the Robobrew since its conception to the Robobrew 3.1 where they changed the manufacturer and as it was copied from Brew Devil I would go either.

I understand that most things are made in China, the Cannular name s registered to KegLand so Brewmaster buy the Cannular from KegLand.

This looks to have completely gone off topic, but it’s handy to have been made aware of another YouTube channel as well as some other products to read up on.

Perhaps the admins can close this thread, unless theres anything topic related which can be added?

Thanks again for the comments
