Hey there.

I'm only about four kits into this hobby. I've had my first encounter with this problem.
The original kit called for kit + 1kg of sugar.
I've used 500g dsm ; 250gm white brewing sugar ; 250 gm of treacle. between 18-20 degrees for brewing.

It'd been in for ten days, had been silent for the last three of them. I opened her up expecting to get a reading of 1.006 as the rather
paltry instruction state. It's more like 1.17 / 1.18 for me... I gave the mix a gentle stir, upped to 20 - 22 degrees, waited a couple of days and today - no real change.

I was intending to bottle some, but won't if I can't get a trustworthy fg. So, as I now want to keg it, what would you do?

give it a few more days take a hydrometer reading if its the same keg it. It will be fine just not as strong as it should have been. What was the start gravity reading?

Already gotten lazy about noting it down. It was slightly shy of the 'official' reading - I think: 1.40.

I'm going to leave it at 24degrees for a day or so and check the gravity then. I think I'll keg it anyhow as all surface activity has stopped on it.
