Hey all, just wanted to say hi.

Always wanted to have a go at making my own beer/wine, knew plenty of people that did in my younger days but never tried myself.

Hope to get started soon, sort of already did with one of those 72 hour kits but that's another story altogether! Now looking to try the real thing.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I will be looking at kits initially as I plan on moving house later this year so I don't wan't to get too involved yet but once settled I'll be looking at all aspects of brewing.

I'm just sick of the gnats **** that you get off supermarket shelves and want some real decent beer. Used to be lots of pubs that did local guest ales but most of them have gone now.

That's how a lot of people ended up in brewing: the good stuff is bleeming expensive, and the affordable stuff is barely drinkable.
Re moving house: a lot of brewing equipment is standard kitchen gear, like a soup pot, a sieve, thermometer. Don't hesitate to ask for advice.

Oh, and: welcome!

Too right anything decent is expensive. At the moment I drink John Smiths because.... well it's cheap but it seriously lacks flavour.

I used to be a Banks's bitter drinker back in the days when you could get a decent pint of the stuff (30+ years ago) but these days I can't stomach it, pretty much the same with most pub beers. Breweries have opted for economising over quality too much.

I'll start gathering the equipment anyway even if I just opt for kits at the moment. It'll all be useful in the long run.
