First post I some of the gear but really no idea!!!

I have had a brewferm tripple in the FV for 16 days for the last week the gravity has been around 1018 - 1020 a bit high? The OG was 1075. The fermentation temp has been arrround 17.5. Do I need to worry? I'm a bit concerned about adding the recommended 90g of sugar and ending up with exploding bottles all over the place.

With the exception of the Christmas Beer all the Brewferm kits state 1.010 as the FG. Though there are anumber of posts arround that suggest that this might be optomistic

I can't post a link but if you google brewferm instruction they are on the web

yes it prob will finish a little high but i think it may go more , you need to raise temp up to 20/22c (ideal is 20c but doing 22c now will help ) you need to give it a little stir too and leave it (22c) for about 3 days and do a test if reading is same as before it's ready if not leave a day more and test , when not moved for 2 /3 days it's ready . btw did you only have 1 packet of yeast ? at that starting gravity 1 packet wouldn't be enough to insure a swift active brew but will do it just struggle and stall , like now.
