Right folks, i have stuck in the brewferm triple using goldensyrup as suggested by many on saturday.

However it doesnt look like fermentation has really kicked off... instead of a nice krausen all i see is a thing and slightly patchy (scumm type) looking layer of bubbles.
as i watch the tiny pinprick bubbles are popping, so it looks like there is something happening... it doesn't seem right. Any ideas? it has been kept at a stable 20-23 degrees since the yeast was pitched.

It is still early if you only pitched it on Saturday. I had trouble with a triple kit way back as well. Best advice is the generic wait and see give til the weekend at least to judge and check the gravity and compare it to the instructions.

just had a look, and it looks like there is a bit of sediment sitting on the bottom (presumably the yeast...)

I have brewed quite a few of the Brewferm kits.
Diablo / Framboise / Triple & have a Brown Bear going on at the moment.
I find they ferment like buggery for about 12 hours then sort of settle down to
a gentle fermentation.
You may have just missed that fairly violent fermentation ???
Tell you what though......they are superb beers if you can manage to keep
yourself off them for 6 months or so !!!
