I was wondering whether I should get any Bramling Cross. Has anybody tried it side by side with Brewer's Gold? I make a nice pale ale with BG... it's fruity, somewhere in the blackcurrant and peach section, without any of the grapefruit or lemon flavours you get with most American hops. Some spice shows up as well. That said, I do use it in massive amounts at flameout and dry-hop with it too. Reviews I've seen for Bramling Cross are very mixed, so I was wondering...

Last years Bramling X had a really nice hedgerow berry note to it. Personally I have only used BX and always in a stout / mild. I would like to give it ago in a good bitter however. :thumb:

Its an under used and underrated hop..I use it in my bitter and darker beers due to the fruity tones. It works well with darker beers. I would think twice before shoving it into a pale

I used 100% BX in a dark 'old ale' (30 IBU and 10g at 15minutes in a 23L batch). Not at all overpowering and perfectly pleasant. Any dark fruity notes are very subtle and pretty much drowned out by the chocolate malt.

I'm planning of finishing off the packet with a Strong(ish) bitter in a blend with fuggles. I think BX is the signature hop in Ruddles County so it shouldn't be out of place in that style.

I concur with that. Just did my first brew and used BX and First Gold. First thought that came to mind was Ruddles...
