After not brewing since July and as Silly(holiday) season approaching I'm inching to brew again. Just come back from San Francisco and after trying some delicious West Coast beers I thought to try my own, however I'm holding off on that idea until I have a few more of the style, just encase I was drinking through rose tinted glass.
I was digging around in my brew diary and found a competition recipe I hadn't brewed for a long time. It essentially was a fathers day brew using hops the same as my dad's initials that I entered the Strong Island Brewing Competition and came 5th in.
I've tweeked it slightly to use Odin Kveik yeast instead of US-05, having last used Ragnar Kviek yeast and making the best beer I brewed to date. Im sold on using them more.

Looks nice. I don’t think I’ve tried Belma, what are they like?

Has a faint strawberry flavour, need more than something like galaxy as its a subtle hop which could get overpowered, but from memory and what I have read it pairs well with Galaxy

That sounds interesting, definitely on my list of hops to try one day acheers.

Brewday presented itself with a few challenges.... scales seemed to be slightly out for a start, then while the water was heating up the extension lead was cutting out. then when it came to flameout/whirlpool the thermometers, which were working fine during the whole morning started to play up and read mid forties just after I switched off the heat. So my whirlpool hops were added somewhere between flameout and whirlpool addition. I in the end had to transfer to the fermenter and wait till morning to get it to range of the kveik yeast. Which may have done more than I thought but doesn't seem to have been bubbling (when I have been checking on it) as much as the ragnar yeast I used back in July.
Going to take a hydro sample tonight (would have been 2 days since pitching to see the progress).
