Will be brewing this one tomorrow and try to upload alot of pictures this time, im just weighing out my grains and prepping the kitchen now. Wish me luck

that's organised!

I usually just clean up enough space to get going, set up the gear and put the HLT on to heat up while I weigh out the grains and hops, by the time I've that, the HLT is up to temp and I can mash in straight away

anyway, I digress, good luck with the brew, and don't forget the pictures!

Im doing BIAB, so its a little bit quicker than a 3 vessel method i think. Took me about 4 hours last time so not too bad

I need to start weighing and setting up the day before. Its taking me nearly 8 hours for an AG atm.

I remember being like that - it takes time to get things right in your head before brewing :thumb:
Once it is second nature, you will not think twice about bunging the HLT on while you decide what you are going to brew
You will find the duration seems to drop quite rapidly too once you have a few under your belt

Heres the pictures as promised,
First the ingredients straight out the box

I removed the bag and sparged it in my fermenter then tipped back the runnings into my pot, heres a pic of the boil, it took an age to reach a rolling boil.

And heres a pic of the end of the boil, i just threw the rest of the hops in loose as most of the first addition came out of the bag anyway

Got an og of 1.048 which is right around what i was hoping so really pleased

the fv looks like the ones supplied in the Coopers DIY beer kits, no air locks required see through and easy to clean great fermenters. Only trouble is I've not found where you can but them as stand alone, only with the complete starter kit around £65 including your choice of beer.

Yeh i got mine with the coopers diy kit when i started in april, it comes with a beer kit, brew enhancer carbonation drops, bottles, a spoon, and little bottler but i dont think you can buy it on its own. you can see through it pretty nicely yeh and it comes with a collar to put in so that when the krausen dies down you can remove it and clean it before it cakes on which is handy. Theres been a few on ebay lately, probably because of the tesco sale a while back. Its fizzing away nicely now

bottled this a couple of days ago, its incredibly dark, looks like a stout in the bottles, ill post some pics when i do the taste test in a week or two

Took this pic a while back and forgot to post it, all the beer is gone now it was fantastic. Extremely light and clean tasting, a little darker than i was expecting which is probably due to the 2 hour mash. The carbonation was great, enough to kick up some of the delicate hop aroma and give it a nice bite, my friend liked it so much he brewed the recipe himself, i would definately make this beer again its a great session beer but just a bit more interesting than a standard lager. If i do it again i might try it with a lager yeast rather than s05.

I used the sample recipe that was on beersmith. Ill try and did it out for you though if you dont have beersmith
