just done my first brew coopers lager kit, tastes & looks ok but goes quite flat after its been sitting for 10 mins :wha: how do i improve this ? i put 1 carbonating drop in each bottle & left for another 2 weeks, after 10 days fermenting with youngs brewing sugar (1kg). also how do i increase the strength of my lager for next brew ???

if it goes flat after 10 mins just drink it quicker or add some lemonade for a wee shandy! if u want to make ur nxt one stronger either reduce the amount of water u add or increase the sugar. if u want more fizz for ur nxt brew then add more sugar when bottling, but beware of bottle bombs!
thanks abeyptfc, so your the 1 & only partick thistle supporter :lol: so how do i avoid bottle bombs ? i have 500ml plastic bottles should i not bother with the carbonating drops that come with kit & just add sugar when bottling " how much"?

I've just added sugar My. cough 2 brews. Yes only to that I've cracked open so far. But they both are quite carbonated. I used 3/4 of a cup of corn priming sugar dissolved in 1 cup boiled water for 5 gal.

usually 1 carbonation drop is fine per bottle. if you decide to put more in then you can always feel the plastic and if it gets rock solid maybe considering letting a bit of air out!

thanks abeyptfc, just ordered a cider kit for next brew, if i prime them with sugar how much would i put in ??? i live in Ayr but mostly lived in sunny Saltcoats (born in Govan) no i dont support killie i dont really support any team, scottish league is a 2 horse race every year i would love to see a team like the thistle to win something. cheers for your help mate sorry about the slagging for being a thistle supporter. you can only support your team & hope 1 day you will win something :clap:

re: your cider kit, I would expect it would be the same carbonation wise, 1 drop per bottle, if you like it fizzier then just add a bit more sugar, I usually leave my bottes in the spare room for a week-10 days then out to the shed for a few week, ive got quite a stash of booze so its usually sitting for a few months! u up 2 much this weekend?
