I'm thinking of buying a 8*6 foot shed to brew in and was wanting your input, will it be big enough and is anyone using one at the moment they may have a picture of just to give me an idea of how much room you have.

Cheers kyle

8 x 6 is the minimum space you need in my opinion, 10 x 8 is very workable, anything bigger you can open a pub in... :D

I'm having the same idea. I'm realistically only limited to 8x6 too which is going to be pretty cosy if you've got the ladders and bikes in there. One idea I have is to dig down maybe 4ft or so to have a micro cellar under the floor.

I've just upgraded my 8*6 shed for a 10*8. The 8*6 was rammed full with gardening stuff, beer and brewing stuff, paint etc, with very little room to move about, there was no way I could've used it to actually brew in.

The new shed however is absolutely massive in comparison. I have all the same bits in there, but I have room to display all the filled bottles, move about, and I'm actually considering getting a 3 tier metal brewing stand and getting some stainless gear to make a permanent brewing fixture in there. I'm still shocked when I walk into the new one, easily pick a bottle off the shelf and walk back to the house, where before that was a right polava moving boxes, lifting crates and balancing things on other things.

Thanks for the replies guys. The shed will solely for brewing (my man cave) and will stand by the garden shed I already have which is a 6*8. Was looking at a 10*8 but but I think it will be a little tight to get out the back gate.

All I know about mine is:

a) its pretty huge I think it might be a 12' or maybe even more!
b) its full of cr@p
c) its got a leak in the roof (right on top of all my powertools - nice!)
d) its going to get properly sorted out over the winter, re-roofed (shingles I think), refloored (vinyl for easy cleaning), insulated, drywalled and painted!

Any shed isn't big enough fullstop.
I have 27x18 workshop with second floor 13ft above workshop floor and at 6' high it's full as well as the workshop, so I got a 10 x 8 shed in the garden it too is full. 2 upright fridge freezers, 1 chest freezer, a 7' long x4' wide x 3' high conditioner cupboard. Brewing grain store cupboards etc etc etc etc etc
More room means more stuff you get ;) Bewarned!!

Ah ****, you've just reminded me how urgently I need to find somewhere rodent proof to keep my grains.

steel bin or the blue mango barrels work well. I have my Chook grains and feed outside in a blue barrel not got into at all

My brewshed is about 5mx2.5m all my brewery setup permanent fixture also freezer aand work tops all round

Had the tape out when I got home and looks like I only have the room for a 6*8 so i'll have to plan the inside pretty well

Cheers kyle
