Hi all,

Relitivly new to brewing(from kits) and the 3 I've done so far have all been very successfull

I started my latest brew last night and checked on it this morning to find nothing has moved in the air lock and no 'froth' has formed on the top of the wort.
The last few brews I've done have stared bubbling away within 2 hrs and a nice foam has formed within 12 hrs.
The fermenter is kept at a steady 19 degrees.

I know the yeast can take a while before it kicks in....I did give it a little stir this morning.

How long should I give it untill i should worry?....if nothing happens in two days shall I just chuck another sachet of yeast in or will this ruin the wort?
Any advice will again be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Just looking at nutrient...do you add this when you pitch the yeast?

yes mate , you really don't need it most of the time but it will give the yeast something to munch on and get them active and hopefully find any remaining sugars , give the lot a good gentle stir (no splashing as this will increase the chance of getting stale tasting beer )

Hi Pittsy,

Cheers for the info..it appears that it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction..I got home tonight, scum across the wort and bubbling away in the airlock. :thumb:
