This is i think, going to be my first failure :hmm: its a muntons gold kit and it started fermenting on the 29th april and after two or three days it had completey stopped showing signs in the airlock which i didnt think was unusual so i took a reading with a mind to transfer to secondary FV, however, the reading was 1020 and the same the next day and day after that..so having read the around the forum i decided to stir it at the bottom and put it on a heat tray for a while, the airlock started to buble again for about a day and has stopped again, it is still reading 1020 this morning...i really dont know what to do with it..can/should i stir it again ? and keep doing this untill its dropped ? or is it destined for the drain ?

Go to the beer brewing 'how to' section, and read the post about stuck fermentations.

Even if you brew finished at 1020 though, there is no reason to chuck it.

I would leave it a bit longer yet mate, if you started on 29th apr then it's only been going 6 days. I leave mine to ferment for 10-14 days before kegging or bottling.
I've had a couple of brews stick before, one fermented down to the correct f.g and the other finished at 1016 or so in the end.
I never use an air lock for beer as they are not a good indication of fermenting unless you have a screw top fermenter and have a good seal on the lid.
As Shearclass said don't chuck it away  The worst case scenario is that it doesn't drop any further and you'll have a slightly weaker but perfectly drinkable beer

how weird is this....its just started bubbling again, i have not touched it...ill leave it another week then i think
