I have bought a BE2 different than coopers (cheaper as well). I am sure it will the same if not better. Now for bottling I have bought sugar cubes. on the instructions of this kit it says (a part from using the drops), you should put 8 grams per litre. I have just weighted 3 of them and they are 4 grams each (spot on). So if I am using a 500ml bottles one drop should do the trick. I think this is a good idea an much, much cheaper than the coopers carbonation drops.

thanks
Luis

Yup one per bottle is ideal. The carbonation drops are hopeless IMO.

Yea I found that the coopers beer kits are very reasonable. However on the instructions they "recommend" you to use little extras from their brand that can be very expensive. That's why I am looking for alternatives. for example the enhancer cost almost £6 I bought one with the same ingredients for £5. the drops cost almost £3 for 260 grams (and some of you say that they are not too good) and the silverspoon sugar cubes cost me under £1 for 500 grams. :wha:

Sugar cubes.. I never thought about using them for bottling, much easier!
Good these forum thingys ain't they!

Best way to learn me thinks. Someone always has an idea you never though of on here :thumb:

Some times I do have a bright moment or 2 :D

One think with sugar cubes: I have found many different brands in the supermarket. You got to be a bit careful though. they are few that won't fit in the bottle and their other called "rough cut" or something like that and each cube will be different so the quantity of the sugar won't be the same. silverspoon seems to be the best choice. each cube weights 4 grams (perfect for 500 ml bottled) and they fit in the bottle nicely. As mention before this is perfect substitute for the coopers carbonation drops.
