As I'm off work I'm just starting a bonus, midweek brew day (an El Dorado & Nelson pale). As always, cleaning the kitchen, making a coffee and putting on some sounds are the first jobs of the day. I always like to have a nice mix of music whilst brewing so was thinking I'd put a playlist together. I like something quite mellow to begin (currently liking Beck) ; I then get into some retro blues rock for the mash (anything remotely Led Zeppelin inspired); followed by some loud guitars for the boil (particularly two piece outfits like Black Keys, White Stripes etc); finishing with some ambient, electro whilst chilling (pun) and transferring to the FV.

Does anybody else have favourite brew soundtracks?

No, I usually use the calming, therapeutic trickling sound of the sparge to negate the effects of listening to commentary of my teams dire away performance at whoever they are playing that week.

Do you reckon your music choice affects enzyme happiness during the mash?

Rock should get them all revved up for chomping through long chains of starch athumb..

I often take a Friday annual leave to brew, clean the house and listen to that week’s new releases so it really depends what’s new out.

I thought this was going to be a thread about songs that should be listened to when brewing.

Bobby "Boris" Picket & The Crypt-Kickers - Monster Mash
David Bowie - Sparge Oddity

etc.

I'll have to try some Planet Rock, not come across that before. If I run past 3pm on a Saturday, I do move on to the football but then I feel like drinking a beer as well as making one.

Brewing today, soundtrack has been Marillion, and the Stooges. Might have to cue up some Hawkwind!
