The JBK forum has organised a brew-along for this weekend to brew an ESB to a recipe that was developed by the forum members, I had a tiny bit of input. If anyone is brewing this weekend maybe you could join in and brew this recipe (feel free to tweak according to what you have in stock etc), which is available as an AG kit from the Maltmiller for �ã13:
ESB
23 Litres
OG 1050
IBUs 50
Boil for 90 mins
4600g Maris Otter
270g Caramalt
270g Pale Crystal
270g Torrefied Wheat
50g Challenger First Wort - add these hops as soon as you add the wort to the boiler ( Yes, before it starts boiling) Boil for 90 mins
40g Progress @10mins ( This is 10mins before the end of boil )
40g East Kent Goldings @ Flame Out, 30 mins steep
60g East Kent Goldings Dry hop - optional
Yeast of your choice
I'm hoping to brew this at the weekend, if not Monday. A small batch, around 8 litres.
