Morning
I bottles my first lot of beer a couple of days ago and the carb drops (yes I know, it's cheaper to use sugar - I just saw some on offer and was tempted to try it) seem to have created a rather odd colour at the bottom of my bottle. Is this normal?

It's more noticeable at the bottom but fades updwards

That's just sediment and is normal. You'll be able to reduce the amount of sediment in the bottle with practice. Cold crashing and racking to a bottling bucket are the best ways of reducing it. For me anyway.

Yep, looks like all my bottles. Leave it a few more weeks and it'll pack down nice and tightly so you're less likely to disturb it when you pour. :thumb:

AND when you pour, try to have a glass that can keep the contents of the whole bottle so you can pour all in one go. No sloshing back and forth. And cool it from a day before drinking, that compacts it even more and reduces the risk of gushers.

Thanks for the advice :) looking forward to trying one in a couple of weeks

And don't use a glass that causes the beer to foam too much, else you'll be sloshing it in the bottle and have a glass of foam. Do you want a flake in that love?:laugh8:
