bottling question

this is probably a daft question but its my first time so here goes , do i fill my bottles nearly to the top or leave a gap ?. dont want to overfill but dont want to spoil them either all help greatly recieved ,atb wayne

I usually leave about an inch from the top also dont forget to steralise your caps

Thanks thats great no i have been very carefull to sterilise everything i even did the tins and bags my kits came in ,on the home stretch now of my first brew so will post my attempt from start to finish when i get it in its bottles ,atb wayne

You need a bottling wand in your life pal !
Use it to fill the bottle to the top, wen you pul the wand out it leaves just the right head space.

Spotted this way of using a bottle stick the other day. Might have to give that idea a go some time.

p.s Not watched the full video, just the idea of moving bottling stick from bottle to bottle.
