Hello new here and have looked already for the answer but can't find it.

Iv brewed the coopers Mexican lager and iv decided to bottle it into 2 litre coke bottles (advise by my local homebrew dealer) which have been sterilised etc.

He told me to put a good heaped teaspoon in the bottles, on here it says put 1 teaspoon per 500 ml? :s which do I do I have already added one teaspoon and filled the bottles full of lager can I just add 3 extra teaspoons.

Secondly can when I add the sugar I fill it with my lager should I gently shake bottle to devolve sugar? Thanks in advance

best of luck with the new venture
im only new enough at it myself but one thing i have read is you should try get the exact same amounts of sugar in each bottle when bottling
and the same volume of beer so as to have the same taste to each beer you make

i got lots of stuff in the pound shops as in funnels and measuring spoons brushes etc
using one of these spoons makes sure you no the exact amount of sugar is each bottle as i use a knife to level the top of it

hi the best way is to get another fv and heat some water ( 500 ml ish ) and add sugar and boil for 10 mins , cool to room temp and add to new fv then transfer beer (avoid splashing) to new fv then bottle beer straight away (after mixing gently) . For a 23l brew Lager) you want around 150g to 200g (most other brews have less sugar ), i would do around 160g for yours so around 15g per bottle ( a tea spoon is approx 5 g , you should weigh a spoon full if using the teaspoon method ) good luck with your beer

pittsy's way is best, but next best is to put the sugar into the bottles first so the natural swirling of the incomng ale mixes it in. Usually, the yeast will find it even if some of it sinks to the bottom though.

You could just open them up and drop more sugar in now. Not much oxidation risk, should work, probably no great need to agitate to mix it in but would be helpful
