Where do you source your bottles from?
I really like the ease of using swing top bottles rather than capping.
I had thought of asking at local pubs, but what pre-bottled main stream beer still come in swing tops?
Do people still drink Grolsch, or anything else that I could source from a pub?

Cheers n Beers

I have a crate of grolsch bottles that are in my rotation. Last time I checked ASDA still sold them..

Alternatively Lidl and aldi often do swingtop bottles

I agree that a pub is very unlikely to stock such bottles.

You sometimes see bottles on here too.

FYI there is a thought that proprietary one's are much better than say a box of 12 empty ones - they appear to be weaker and no necessarily pressure proof.

See my thread here for thought on that. https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/commercial-swing-tops-vs-homebrew-seller-supplied.106015/

I have deliberately purchased a crate of German Beer, Hacker-Pschorr make a great selection in Swing tops.
I also managed to buy 54 Grolsh bottles from eBay as part of a bigger bottle collection for £28. Shop around for the bottles on eBay as some people seem to be dreaming on the priced they want for used empty bottles.

And treat your bottles well - they can last for decades.
I still got some Boots brand pint bottles from about 30 years ago. And if you go by car to Germany buy some crates of beer, even with the deposit it's still good value, though most beer is sold in capped bottles.

1. A bottle bank. Use good gloves and a litter picker with a few elastic bands around the end to make it grippy.

2. Ask a landlord to save you some.

3. Check the recycling after a footy match. 👍👍

Personally I prefer clear, crown caps bottles. There are the easiest to use.

Edit: comma inserted for the hard of reading 🤣🤣🤣

Heavy is the head that thinks of crown caps.
I'm keeping a crate or so of bottles incase I want to swap anything..but I must research filling them from the keg now.
In the near future after a sort out I'll probably have quite a few bottles going spare but they'll have to be collected from sunny Wrexham,I won't deliver stupid distances or post them one at a time.
