Bottle Explosion After 3 months?

Bottles now stored in a carboard box with extra cardboard sheets at the base to soak any spillage. So far, no more casualties and I don't actually have many left. I've drunk 3 over the last few days since this starting the post - chilled prior to opening. A little bit of 'foam over' on each one, but they've tasted fine. Lots of fizz to them of course, which is nice this time of year.
 
Bottles will withstand quite a bit of pressure. A cider I made a couple of years ago would give a 3 foot fountain when opened. I just cracked the crown a bit so as to release excess pressure then open fully, yes you got a bit of the sediment mixed in but at least you didn't lose the entire pint...
