What is the general consensus on capping bottles and sanitising.

Do I just cap straight from the packet or should I sterilise the caps first.

Probably sounds a bit over cautious but I don't want to run the risk of my beer being spoiled.

I chuck the caps in the bucket I'm sterilising the bottles in, when I've cleaned the bottles I rinse the caps and put them on some kitchen towel. It's no extra effort for peace of mind

i used to spray star san in but i've not bothered for around 6 months or so , no probs as yet .
+1. Unsure why I don't. But seen as the caps are metal and are usually sitting in a sealed plastic bag I just don't see the need. Unless I've sneezed on them usually don't bother.
