Well here's something else I've learned today, from Wikipedia:
Boracay is an island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. In 1990, it was voted by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook as one of the best beaches in the world and again in 1996 by British publication TV Quick as the world's number one tropical beach.

The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak (3 of the 17 barangays which make up the municipality of Malay), and is under the administrative control of the Philippine Tourism Authority in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan.

Why have I been off to find that out?

Board index bottom line: Total members 3251 | Our newest member Boracayisbeautiful

Since being promoted to site crew I tend to keep an eye on the newest members to spot potential spammers, but this one aroused my curiosity.

If anyone wants to know about cruising holidays in Vietnam, golf equipment, where to buy DVD box sets or Tiffany jewellery, just say the word and I will reinstate those threads.

Hey this site is much, much better managed than similar sitess i have been to.
One in particular has 19000 members, but only 400 of them have posted more than 10 times!

Me having posted 1300 times at that site......

I'm also a member on another winemaking forum which has been going about 4 times as long as this forum, but THBF membership is going to overtake theirs within a couple of months now. That other site seems to have a core of a couple of dozen regulars, plus occasional visitors who don't stay for long.

With any forum you are going to find a large percentage of members with one or no posts, but I've just been having a look at board statistics here and 593 of the 3,253 members have a 10+ post count.

More to the point, ordering the list by "last active" and going down it, over 800 members, a quarter of the board membership, have visited at least once in the last month, so THBF must be doing something right and I'm delighted to be a part of it.

Don't you think, however, that your "Boracay" quest was above and beyond the call of duty?
Probably, but I'd never heard of it, and I've saved someone the bother of telling us all about it, but it does sound rather wonderful, can we all go?

cruising holidays in Vietnam

Will all holidays be accompanied by The Doors' 'The End' soundtrack and the 'wup wup wup' of low flying helicopters whilst looking for errant army colonels?
:D

Just to complement your figures Ade:
There're also 137 with 100+ posts and 22 with 1000+ posts :thumb:

I look at the forum several times a day but don't post very often as most of what I would post has already been said :D

We certainly have come a long way in a short space of time :thumb:

The members make a forum what it is :thumb:

Absolutely, this place is almost as addictive as making the beer!

(Oh, I'll drink to just about anything!)
