Hi guys,

I'm looking to do my first all grain brew soon, and I've read various books about the ease of the brew in the bag method.

For this I bought a 25litre PP bucket with a kettle element in which I was going to use as both the mash tun and boiler.

However when heating the water it takes over an hour to get near 66C fornmasjing and then the same again to get near boiling (for the subsequent boil) and even then it's barely doing so.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions. Will this set up be okay or would you recommend a different set up? Has anyone had the same problem and found a way around it?

Any help would be great, not looking to spend a great deal,

I built my own boiler from a 33l plastic FV and two elements from Wilko value kettles. I've not timed it, but it is a lot quicker to get to strike temp than an hour. I also mash in a cheap cool box from Tesco.
