Thinking about getting one of these, the only thing that is putting me off is that you need to buy a g-connector to use it as a tap which is about £70. Is there a reason why you can't pour into a glass without the connector.

I did look at these. However as I'm only filling the odd bottle now and then, I decided to go for a decent beer tap and a cheap 'generic' counter pressure filler (about £20)

From video's of it in use it looks like the beer is poured out down the side of the bottle, I presume to prevent foaming as it doesn't have a lance that fills from the bottom of the bottle like the cheap generic one pictured above does. So I presume that if ytiou attempted to pour a beer into a glass then I'd imagine you'd get a very wide pattern which will splash alot and create alot of foam, so a converging nozzle is needed. Doesn't explain why its £70 though. Seem s a bit steep unless it has some fancy stuff inside like a flow control mechanism or something.

Yes it does seem to be alot of money doesn't it.

I love my iTap and as others have said the ITap fills by pouring the beer down the side of the bottle to prevent foaming (and it does this very well). I only use it to fill bottles though - I use regular taps to serve into a glass. I can't see the point in the g connector to be honest. And definitely not at £70
