Blackberry picking

I went picking blackberrys today for the first time this year,i only got 1kg this time out.
The bad weather we have had as turned a lot of them rotten,and there is lot's that are not
ripe.I :pray: the weather get's better soon,so i can get more blackberrys.

yeah, picking blackberrys is always a pain in the ass. I managed to get 1Kg in an hour, so made jam out of it. I was hoping to get out again and aim for the 2 Kg mark for some nice Autumn wine. Failing that, I might just enjoy the jam...

We have had loads round here.. i've managed to collect around 12lbs.. and have made some jam... and some wine.. and still have around 6lbs left in the freezer. Probably going to use this to make MORE wine

Today i went blackberry picking and found at least 3lb of them and there are lot's more
to pick over the next 2 weeks. or 3.
Tomorrow i am picking sloe berries,i've found at least 1 big bush of them :thumb:
I will be picking Elderberrys as well, i will have lot's of wine from all these berries

I went picking yesterday.

Half rotten, half unripe, and as ronald regan would say, the third half just right.

Went blackberry picking today and there was lot's not ready
but i still got 3lb of ripe one's.
I have now got about 10lb of blackberrys, i will use 6lb of them to make two gallons
of wine. :thumb:

I hope to get a lot more blackberrys next week.

went picking Blackberrys today after all that rain yesterday,i got 4lb of them.
And threw away about 2lb of rotten one's.I was lucky to get 1lb of elderberrys and 2lb of
sloes,for now.
I hope to make some sloe gin this week for christmas/new year. :

make sloe wine as well as sloe gin :thumb:
to make the sloe gin you only need 4oz-sloe berrys,4oz-sugar,1/4-bottle of gin and red wine.
method:wash the sloe's and prick with a pin then put them in a wine bottle with the sugar,1/4 of gin and top up to the neck with red wine,and shake until the sugar as dissolved,
then shake every 7 days,for 3 or 4 months,then strain into a clean bottle ready to :drink:
