Been wanting to do a Riggwelter for ages now. So as my latest BB order has arrived got the following mashing now:

As a result of doing a 19 hour night shift last night I forgott to pre heat the mash tun! subsequently missing my mash temp :x So I decided to pull a decoction to get it up to temp! Bit nerve racking as I've not done this before but hit 66 deg C and holding :)

More info and pics to follow!

Like the look of this one.

19 hour night shift :!: There's dedication to the cause.

Hope it goes well. :thumb:

Sounds good ( the brew not the Night shift! )
I would be interested to see if your smiling and looking fresh in the photo's :D
Have a good brew and following kip!!!

Well, got everything finished last night. Longest brewday yet @ 8 hours :!:  rather than the normal 5 ish! Oh well. Managed to get sat down after and within 10 mins I was snoring into a Brakspear Triple  It is busy bubbling away the air lock this morning so all in all well happy, even if a bit knackered! Managed 20L @ 1.062 OG expected abv of 6.3 so my efficiency is up abit @ 77.2% as I was aiming for 20L @ 1.058 expected ABV of 5.7% :thumb:

Here are the photo's

Supplies! The sacks came from a bulk purchase with some lads from JBKF, straight from Fawcett's, all others from Paul @ BB

I know there has been some debate over the 1g of roasted barley but I thought I'd put it in for shits and giggles as I had a kilo of the stuff! ;)

So this is the 1.5L decoction I pulled after not paying enough attention and putting my strike water into a cold mash tun! :?

Did a taste test with a bottle of Hob Goblin. colour = spot on, Smell = spot on, the taste = fantastic, mine was a little bit more floral on the nose and palate but I recon thats a good thing :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

After 30 mins rest to let the filth settle out!

1.061 @ 25 deg C = 1.062 @ 20 deg C so if the yeast does it's job down to the predicted 1.015 it should be 6.3% :thumb:
