Im going to have a bash at Making the Malt Millers "Heretic Brewing - Evil Twin" recipe in the morning. I fancied making something a bit different, the reviews looked good and I thought the name was catchy.
Ive not been brewing for that long and I'm sure my methods are utterly unsound. I'll make a start.....

Im brewing BIAB and its a 19l batch. I my bucket holds 30l so I'll fill her up

I live in Alsager which nestles comfortably between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent. My water comes to me from Lake Vyrnwy a lovely victorian reservoir in north/mid Wales. It travels via the Llangollen canal to a water treatment facility near Nantwich which sounds pretty grim, but at least its not from our nearest cut - the Trent and Mersey.

Im going to add some Campden, the instructions say .5g for 25l. Ive crunched the numbers and arrived at .6g for 30l

Santa visited me early this year and delighted me with a Grainfather malt mill. This is its first outing. It's a beautifully made thing. It crunched through the malt in no time.

Kettle washed, malt milled and water treated. Tomorrow it shall be brewed!

Recently brewed this one...think hands down it's my favourite brew. Always been a IPA fan but this style just blew me away. Planning more 'red' ales...bet your going to enjoy it..m

I'd make a starter at this point, but my stir plate still needs a little work. The recipe came with US-05 which shouldn't be to finicky.

Did you mess around with the water profile Rwilts? I normally use the excellent calculator stickied to the forum. Beersmith suggests something a bit different and I'm tempted to try it.

I use Brewfather . Based on my Cardiff water profile it advised 3.5 calcium chloride 3.8 epsom salts 3.5 gypsum and 1.5 lactic acid.

Things didn't go entirely to plan, but Ive got a bucket of wart and I good feeling about the brew.

My empty bucket weighs about 1.5kg the full bucket weighed 22.3kg so when its off the tub I should have about a keg full.

I passed the wort through me brew bag to get rid of some of the trub. I think this might have been a big error as the recipe asked for a hop addition at flame out followed by a 20 minute rest before cooling. That means the hops probably only had under an hour in the wort before I rudely hoyed them out. I think this is going to negatively effect the taste:confused:

In with the yeast and away to ferment - I'll report back in a few weeks with the results!
