These have to be the biggest hops I’ve seen to date!
Discovered them being used as decoration in the Dead Poets, Holbrook, Derbys.
Although they have opened out, they are still pretty impressive.
The largest ones being 2.5” long by 1.25” diameter.
Unfortunately the landlord has lost the info that came with them, so it’s not known what variety they are!

the northdown that I grew this year were about that size.
but some of the fuggles were also that size too so I think you will have to brew with tthem to try and find out. :D

mine were first year too but I go them growing right next to the compost bin so the get a lot of good stuff from that and I dont have to feed them or water too much ( worm pee does it )
think thats what made mine bigger

definatly you get the freshest hops possible and you dont get any of the stems in your hops if you are carefull when picking.
thay grow like weeds, as fast if not faster than bineweed.
you can use them fresh and see if you like the brew that way, and also you can develop your house brew around them.
as for drying them thats no bother just a insect screen stretched out susspended in the loft or dark shed and in few days they are dry. just pack them away for a brew.
and dont you know? home grown allways tastes better
