Hullo again ...

Our 1st attempt at brewing w/ grains on 25 May has went a bit wrong (I think ..)

We only bought 1 pot and were using a hob on an electric cooker. Our pal wanted to make bratwurst for the final and turned up the heat on the worng hob whilst we were mashing (supposed to be around 67°) unfortunately for a time it was up at 80°. How would this effect our beer?

We had to do a "double brew" to bring us up to the usual 23L mark we are used to seeing when brewing with kits. The brew is supposed to be a light thing but not 2.5% Light, should we add more yeast and brown rice syrup to the fermenter?

Also how do finings work?

Regards

how far into mashing? most conversion takes place in the first 15 mins so you may be okay, but at a high temp you may notice bad efficiency or a grainy taste.

don't add sugar, if you add anything add light dry extract. but you may wish to just ferment it and call it a learning experience. it'll probably be decent, and you can learn from your mistakes :)
