Well I am just sorting my recipe for my second BIAB, and wondered if you good folk would give your wisdom, I'm not one for recipe books, so this is a suck it and see approach with a little help from Brewmate.
I am after an easy drinking golden ale, and did consider Citra hops, but at the moment have just played safe with Fuggles and EKG.
OK, so this is for a 15 litre brew length
Original Gravity (OG): 1.050 (°P): 12.4
Final Gravity (FG): 1.011 (°P): 2.8
Alcohol (ABV): 5.10 %
Colour (SRM): 12.3 (EBC): 24.2
Bitterness (IBU): 21.8 (Average)
80.3% Maris Otter Malt (2.65kg)
10.61% Crystal 80 (.35kg)
9.09% Honey (.30 kg)
1 g/L Fuggles (5.7% Alpha) @ 60 Minutes (Boil) (15gms)
0.7 g/L East Kent Golding (4.7% Alpha) @ 30 Minutes (Boil) (10 gms)
0.7 g/L East Kent Golding (4.7% Alpha) @ 5 Minutes (Boil) (10gms)
0.3 g/L Irish Moss @ 20 Minutes (Boil) (5 gms)
Single step Infusion at 66°C for 60 Minutes. Boil for 60 Minutes
Fermented at 20°C with
Brew day info:
Mash at 66C using the oven method with 9 litres of strike water for 60 mins
Sparge bag in 11 litres for approx 20 mins then drain
Using the 19L stock pot for the boil and topping up the boil as I go. over the course of the 60 min boil
My idea is to warm the honey and add to the cooling wort - this to try and retain some of the honey flavour.
As said above, I did wonder about Citra - maybe even dry hopping with them, but this is trial and error on my part so welcome input from those in the know :wha:
Cheers chaps :
